Wiscasset

Sharon and I set out (relatively) early from Boston bright, balmy day, tending toward Booth Bay Harbor but not concerned about when we got there. Thus we stopped in Wiscasset at the Home for Old Men, a stately 19th century brick structure, at Red’s Ice Cream shop in Newburyport, and at the actual port of Newburyport, where we lounged on a dock as if we belonged there. And no one told us different. “Hey, what’re ya taking pictures of?” a cheerful resident asked. “Oh, just stuff around here — I like old broken-down things.” “Take a picture of me! I’m old and broken-down!” he offered. Other than him and a few dog walkers, we were alone.
